The Concept
teamLab Borderless is a museum without borders. Unlike a traditional museum where you follow a fixed route, you wander, explore, and become part of the artwork itself.
The artwork doesn't sit static in any one given room. It moves, interacts, communicate, and merges with other works and with the visitors. Your movement through the art space influences the art and makes it change.
What to Expect on a Visit
You’ll wander through darkened rooms filled with projections, light, mirrors, and moving imagery. Some key highlight areas are the Bubble Universe of floating light spheres, the Crystal World with mirrored surfaces and LED threads, and interactive zones throughout the art space.
Because the museum is open and non-linear, there is no set route. You might find hidden corners, backtracks, and surprises, so allow plenty of time on your visit.
How to Get a Reservation
You will need to book a ticket in advance, and here’s how:
- Choose your date and time slot (Tickets are time-based, meaning you'll select a date and entry time. Once inside, you can stay as long as you like.)
- Buy online: The museum strongly recommends purchasing tickets ahead of time via the official website here: https://www.teamlab.art/e/tokyo/
- Advance timing: The museum is very popular. Many tickets sell out ahead of time, so booking 2–3 weeks in advance (or more, for peak periods) is advised.
- On the day: Arrive at the entry zone at your booked time and present your QR code (from your email or app) for admission.
- Ticket prices vary by date/time and age category — check the day you plan to visit.
- Address: - Located in Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B - Tokyo, Minato City, Toranomon, 5 Chome−9 Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B, B1
Conclusion
If you are in Tokyo and looking for an art experience that goes beyond viewing to immersing, the Mori Building Digital Art Museum: teamLab Borderless is an unforgettable stop. Just be sure to plan ahead, book your ticket in time, and go ready to wander without a map.
